Students are expected to learn: - Plot components: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution - Elements of fiction: o setting, o characters, o types of conflict § man vs. man § man vs. self § man vs. environment - Literary paragraph – Introduce title, author, do not use first person - Short story – write a narrative - Literary Writing: What is a hero? Compare and Contrast stories of different people who have shown courage. How has their idea of courage changed because of the readings? - Expose students to different forms of literature (short stories, essays, song, poems, info text/news)
